Celebrating 25 years of service at Church at the Gateway, Pastor Tim Mercaldo is responsible, in partnership with the Senior Pastor, for the casting of vision and the implementation of Gateway’s mission. He and the Senior Pastor oversee the senior staff in all four core ministries – Worship, Children, Youth and Small Groups. A graduate of Moody Bible Institute, with continuing graduate studies at Seminary Of The East, Pastor Tim is committed to a lifelong journey of integrating God’s truth into daily life.
As Director of Creative Arts and Worship Ministries, Pastor Tim oversees the weekly presentational elements of Gateway’s Sunday experiences at 9 and 11 a.m. As the primary worship leader, he works with a volunteer team of singers, musicians, dramatists, and creative media volunteers to help create an environment where God can be worshipped in “spirit and in truth” with relevance to our hurting society.
His regular preaching and teaching responsibilities reveal a heart to see listeners encouraged to authentically “connect with God and others,” fulfilling the two Great Commandments and the Great Commission in a biblically healthy way.
He is happily married to AnnMarie and blessed with four daughters, Jenna, Gabrielle, Natalie and Christie.
Three verses from the Bible summarize his life goals – Philippians 3:10, Mark 12:30, and Hebrews 12:1-2 – TO KNOW HIM AND MAKE HIM KNOWN!

Hi: I attended Gateway Cathedral when the church was in Oakwood Heights. I first attended when the church was called Calvary Temple in 1975. Although I left SI in the early 80’s, I check out the website from time to time. I’d like to congratulate Tim Mercaldo on 25 years of service in the ministry.

Pastor Timothy,
We attend Allison Park Church, Pittsburgh, PA. We were thoroughly blessed with your music ministry at our church today, including your beautiful, gifted daughters. Their love of Christ was clearly revealed thru their heartfelt singing. We didn’t want service to end today.
Thank you for your ministry,
Jeana & Keith Watenpool
