Digging Deeper Into What We Believe

Church at the Gateway is an interdenominational Bible church where we believe that the Bible is the only inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. We use the Bible as our guide for faith and practice.
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, and His finished work of redemption through His atoning death on the cross. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven. We also believe that he will one day return in power and glory.
Quite simply, Jesus Christ is the center of our ministry. We focus on developing a personal relationship with Him, one where he accepts our faults, forgives our sins, and inspires us to live life the way He commanded.
We believe that spiritual regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for salvation. Christianity does not begin with baptism or church membership, but with a spiritual experience of rebirth by the Holy Spirit of God.
We believe that the “born-again experience” is what separates a true believer from those who simply profess Christianity as a religion, but not a reality in their lives. Jesus said: “You must be born-again to enter the Kingdom of God.” At Church at the Gateway, we call it the 18-inch difference. What many believe only in their heads must also be received into their hearts through the presence of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.
We believe it is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to live a godly and effective Christian life. We teach that every born-again Christian is baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. All believers enjoy the benefits of His fruit and gifts as they discover the blessings of the Spirit-filled life.
We believe in the future resurrection, both of believers and nonbelievers. It is our hope and prayer that all nonbelievers be saved from an eternal hell and gain God’s gift of eternal life in heaven with all who have trusted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
As an interdenominational church, we believe in the spiritual unity of all believers. Regardless of denominational background, we welcome all who desire to know and serve Christ to be part of our growing church family. Our expression of this belief is our membership in the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). NAE represents more than 15 million evangelical, Bible-believing, born-again Christians in over 50,000 local churches, 70 denominations, and more than 100 church ministry organizations throughout America.
